Our Services and Pricing

At STL Holiday Lighting, we are proud of the fact that we offer up-front pricing with no gimmicks, surprises, multi-year contract requirements, or time consuming, high pressure bids.

Unlike many companies that make you sacrifice an hour of your time just to hear an in-person bid based on a mystery pricing scheme, we offer computerized estimates based on a simple, straight-forward pricing model, that we have provided to you below.

Update: We ARE accepting new customers for installation in 2024.

Openings on our schedule are limited and fill up fast every year, so if you are interested in securing a 2024 holiday lighting installation, it is never too early to contact us for an estimate.

See our “Request an Estimate” page for more information.

If you are interested in our services, please DO go ahead and fill out our estimate request form to get a free holiday lighting estimate for your home or business.

How Our Service Works

Our comprehensive service is all-inclusive.

Our quoted prices include install, maintenance, take-down, and storage of lights that we provide and own.

Click on the expansion "+" signs below to see the full details of how our service works.

  • Our standard services include the installation, take-down and storage of the lights and materials that we provide for your home display as well as any maintenance or repairs your display might need throughout the season.
  • Our per foot and per strand pricing (as explained below in the pricing section) is all inclusive in that all of our standard services are included as part of that set pricing, with no hidden fees.
  • When we give you an estimate, we will estimate the footage needed to outline the front of your home along the gutters and peaks.  Additional services we offer include installing lights on the side(s) and/or back of your home, wrapping bushes, shrubs, small trees, or columns with mini lights, installing path lights along your driveway or garden, and hanging wreaths or garland.
  • When outlining homes and businesses, we use our classic C9 size LED bulbs. Color choices include warm white, candy cane (alternating red and warm white), multi-colored (which includes red, orange, yellow, green and blue).  You can also create a custom color scheme made from all of our color choices.  Color choices are red, green, blue, orange, yellow, pink, purple, teal, warm white and pure white.
    • Our C9 LED bulbs are faceted (textured for extra sparkle), the shape of a night-light, and a little larger than a C7 for the classic Christmas look.
  • Our mini-lights are the highest quality injection mold LED and come in 23-foot strands.  Color choices include warm white, multi-colored, red, green and pure white.
    • See the “Pricing” section for more details on how we install mini-lights and the corresponding prices.
  • You can be confident that your home is safe with us!  We have been in business for 25 years and we only use experienced, professional installers who WE personally train and hire.
    • All of our installers are fully insured and most of them come back to work with us again each year.
    • Click “Insurance” under the “About Us” menu tab to see a copy of our current workmen’s compensation insurance policy.
  • If you do not have a working electrical outlet on the exterior of your home, we will ask you to run an extension cord from a working outlet before we come to install your display.
    • This will ensure that we can set the timer properly and fully test the lights for you while we are there.
  • We do not usually “turn-on” displays unless we do the install after Thanksgiving.  When we install your lights (unless it is after Thanksgiving or later), we will plug in the timer, set it for 4pm – 11pm (or for a different time of your choosing), and then leave the light strand(s) unplugged, right next to the timer, so that all you have to do when you are ready to turn your lights on for the season is plug the cord from the lights into the timer.
  • Due to the many factors that affect our installers’ schedules, we do not schedule installs for specific days.  Instead, we schedule them based on your choice of install time frames with promise dates.  (Your time frame options will be addressed in detail when you receive your estimate.)
    • If you schedule an October install, we will install the lights on your house during the month of October and return in November (before Thanksgiving) to install wreaths, garland, and path lights. Mini-lights may be installed during October or November, at your installer’s discretion.
    • No matter when we install your wreaths and/or garland, we will call you the night before (or possibly earlier) to let you know that you need to put your items on the porch for us.  If you do not answer your phone, your installer will leave a message.  If your installer leaves a message, Please DO call or text him back to let him know that you received the message and will put the requested items outside.  We ask you to PLEASE do this so that our installer does not make an unnecessary trip.
  • We will install the lights on your home using our standard, plastic, snap-on, all-in one gutter clips, NOT nails.
  • Our gutter clips are temporary, do NO damage your home, and ensure that the lights are spaced evenly and perfectly aligned.
  • The lights we install to outline your home will be spaced 15″ apart.
  • If any light bulbs burn out, any of the wires in your display short, or you experience any problems with your lighting display, all you have to do is let us know and we will come out and make the necessary repairs for no additional charge.
    • The ONLY time an additional charge may apply for repairs is if the damage was caused by you or someone else on your property.  In our experience, this is a very rare situation, but it can happen.
    • For example, if you or your delivery driver accidentally knock over some of the path lights that we installed or if your landscaper cuts through our wiring with a lawnmower, there would be a small charge for that repair.  Otherwise though, all repairs that are not caused by human error on your part ARE included as part of our standard service for no additional charge.
  • You can request a repair by emailing us at jcoholidaylighting.cs@gmail.com, texting us at (314) 396-8928, or by calling us.
    • Note: We do not do random display checks for issues, so if you need a repair, you do need to let us know.
  • When you contact us to request a repair, no matter the method, please DO include your full name in the message and a complete, detailed description of the problem.
    • If one or more light bulbs are not turning on, we ask that you please either send us a picture showing exactly which bulbs are out or describe the exact location(s) of the bulbs that are out when you request a repair – you CAN text a photo to us at (314) 396-8928.
    • Our installers thoroughly check all lights before installing them, but once the lights have been installed, it is sometimes VERY hard for us to see which bulbs are out on your roof on a bright, sunny day, which is why we ask you to please show or tell us exactly which bulbs are out when you request a repair.
  • When our installers come to take down the display, they will remove everything that was installed.
    • We will pack up everything else that we provided and store it in our warehouse, so that it is ready for you if you choose to have us re-install your lights next year.
  • Please note that due to weather conditions and the number of jobs we install, it does usually take us most of January to get all of our displays taken down.

Due to the way our service works, we can only install lights that we provide.  If you have your own lights and are looking for someone to install them for you, we wish you the best, but regretfully, we cannot help you.

Our Plastic, Snap-On, All-In-One Gutter Clips

When we install lights on your home, we use our standard plastic, snap-on, all-in-one gutter clips, NOT nails.  Our standard gutter clips simply snap onto the gutter of your home, do absolutely no damage (with NO permanent installation), and allow for a speedy install and take-down process.  Our gutter clips position the lights slightly below the roof line, so that the lights are lined up beautifully along the gutters.  (All of the lights along the roof lines in the photos on this page were installed using our standard gutter clips.)

In some select instances where there is no gutter, we may have to use our glue-down, permanent, plastic parapet clips or our permanent nail-in porch clips, but that is a unique situation that does not apply to most homes.  (If we need to use anything other than our standard, snap-on, plastic gutter clips, we will discuss that with you in advance.)

Our Pricing Plan

We take great pride in the transparency of our straight-forward pricing. We have set prices listed below for each item that we install. These per-item prices are all-inclusive and automatically include our full standard service, as described above.

Click on the expansion "+" signs below to see the full details of how our service works.

  • For first time customers, we charge $7.25/ft for every foot of lighting we install to outline your home.
  • For most repeat customers, this price drops to $6.53/foot for re-installation in future years.
  • We will be using C9 LED bulbs to outline your home. Color choices for outlining your home include Warm White (our most popular – a warm LED bulb that has NO blue tint), multi-colored (consisting of red, orange, yellow, green, and blue), or our signature candy-cane scheme (made up of alternating red and Warm White bulbs).  Pricing for any color selection is the same.
  • We do have a minimum price of $800 for all first year customers and $720 for repeat customers. While most homes are able to meet this requirement just with perimeter lighting, we are happy to work with smaller properties by combining services such as mini lights, path lights, wreaths, and garland to meet this requirement.
  • Our installers return at the end of the holiday season, between New Year’s Day and the end of January, to take down everything that they installed.
  • Our mini lights come in 23-foot strands with 100 bulbs per strand.  Color choices include warm white, Pure White, Multi Color, Solid Red, Green and Blue.
  • For small shrubs, bushes, or tree trunks, we charge $32/strand for each strand of lights that we install.
  • We only offer LED mini lights.
  • There are a few different ways that we can wrap trees:
    • Wrapping the trunks only
    • Spiral-wrapping around the outside of the branches
    • Doing BOTH of the above:
      • Wrapping the trunk with mini-lights and then also spiral wrapping around the outside of the tree branches.
  • We supply all the materials needed for the installation of perimeter lighting (outlining your home), mini-lights, and path lights,  wreaths and garland.
  • We charge $6.25/ft to install path lights (stake lights) along your driveway, garden, or pond. (Our stake lights use our C9 LED bulbs.)
  • We do have a minimum price of $800 for all first year customers and $720 for repeat customers.
  • While most homes are able to meet this requirement just with perimeter lighting, we are happy to work with smaller properties by combining services such as mini lights, path lights, wreaths, and garland to meet this requirement.

Your Color Choices for Outlining Your Home

All of the lights you see outlining the roofs of the houses below are our LED bulbs, available in Clear, Candy Cane, Multi-Color, or custom color schemes. When we install lights on bushes, trees or columns, we use our 23-foot, 100 bulb strands of LED mini-lights, which are available in Warm White, Pure White, multi-colored, Solid Red, Blue and Green.

Warm White (Classic Clear)

For a classic, elegant look that is both stunning and timeless, go with our Warm White C9 LED bulbs. These bulbs emit a warm, gentle hue of clear light with absolutely NO blue tint. (About 70% of our customers choose this option.)

Classic Candy Cane

If you want just a little more excitement while still maintaining the timeless elegance of a warm white display, a candy cane display, where every other bulb alternates between our warm white and red LED bulbs, may be just what you are looking for. (Classic Candy Cane is our second most popular color scheme.)

Multi-Colored

Always a family favorite, our multi-colored displays follow a pattern made up of our red, orange, yellow, green, blue and warm white LED bulbs.

Custom Color Scheme

While most of our customers choose one of the standard color schemes already shown, we can also install lights on your home in just about any custom color scheme you choose, so long as you work from our available colors (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, pink, teal, purple, pure white and warm white LED bulbs). We think this red and green display, designed by one of our customers looks absolutely phenomenal!

Ready to Get an Estimate?

Unlike other companies, we don't waste your valuable time with high pressure, in-person bids. Instead, we can provide you with a customized estimate simply from a photograph of the front of your house, taken straight-on.

For the most accurate estimate, take a photo of the front of your home straight on, not at an angle or in perspective. (When you take the photo at an angle or in perspective, we cannot provide you with a very accurate estimate of your footage.) If you cannot fit the entire front of your home into 1 straight on photo, take multiple photos straight on that overlap and send us those.

Once we receive a photo of the front of your home with a few quick details, we can provide you with a customized estimate by email, text message, or phone call.

Click on the expansion "+" signs below to see the full details of how our service works.

We are happy to provide you with a detailed, customized quote for no charge.

However, if you would like to get a rough idea of what your home’s display might cost with us before going through the quoting process, we have put together a page that can help.  (It may also help you to note that we have a minimum total charge of $800 for new customers.)

Our Pricing Examples page lets you see a variety of different styles and sizes of homes WITH the corresponding prices.  Just glance through the pictures for a house that looks similar in size and style to your home, see where we have placed the lights in the picture, and then look at the price of what that exact display would cost with us.

  • The BEST way to request a quote is by filling out our online “Request a Quote” form AND including your email address.  Doing this will ensure the quickest response time and the most accurate estimate!
    • Filling out our form ensures that we have the information we need to provide you with an accurate quote that is tailored to your wishes.
    • Providing your email address allows us to send you back a quote via email with full details.  (While we can provide you with a bid via text message, the detail we can include in a text message is far more limited, which is why we prefer to email quotes when possible.)
  • To fill out our “Request a Quote” form, all you have to do is fill in your contact information (particularly your zip code so that we can confirm you are located within our service area), attach a picture of your home, let us know if you want bids for any of our additional services, and then let us do the rest!
  • If you find it easier to fill out the online form and send the pictures separately via text message, you are welcome to do that.  Just text your photos to 314-396-8928.
    • Be sure to include your name in the text message so that we know which quote request your photos go with.
  • While we do accept quote requests via text message, email, and phone call, we often get more inquiries than we can respond to in a timely manner.  When that happens, we prioritize quote requests that were completed with our online form because the form ensures that we have all of the details we need to complete the quote.
  • For the most accurate quote, send us a photo of the front of your home as well as a photo of any additional areas where you would like us to install lights.
  • Take any photographs you send straight on, not an angle or in perspective.
    • We provide you with a quote by calculating the footage required to outline the peaks and gutters of your house with lights.  When you take photos of your home at an angle or in perspective, that distorts the spatial proportions of your home, which in turn can distort our view of your home.
  • If you cannot fit the entire front of your home into 1 straight on photo, take multiple photos straight on that overlap, from about the same distance, and send us those.
  • If you would like us to include bushes, trees, columns, or other items in your bid, please make sure that those items and areas are clearly shown in the photo(s) you send us.
  • While the best way to request a quote is to complete our online “Request a Quote” form, that is not your only option – you can also request an quote by texting or calling us at 314-396-8928 or by emailing us at jcoholidaylighting.cs@gmail.com.
  • No matter how you choose to request a quote, make sure you include the following details:
    • Your Name
      • We ask for your name from the beginning because we use that to file, save, and reference your quote details.
    • Your Full Address
      • Providing your full address from the beginning only helps you – if the photos you send us do not clearly show us a part of your home that we need to see for the quote, sometimes we can get that photo ourselves through Google’s streetview feature, thereby expediting the quote process.
    • Your Email Address (if you would like a fully detailed quote)
      • If you choose to request an quote by text message, we CAN text you back your quote once we have it ready, but providing your email address so that we can respond by email will allow you to receive a much more detailed reply.
    • A photo(s) showing the front of your home’s roof line and any other areas you would like us to include in your quote
      • We will automatically calculate the footage required and the price to outline the front of your home or business along the peaks and gutters.
    • If you would like us to include anything in your quote besides an outline of the front of your roof line, please tell us that in your email or text message.
      • We will automatically itemize your bid, so that you can see the cost of each additional area/ item and decide for yourself what you would like to have us include in your display.
  • The quotes we provide are just that – quotes, not estimates.
    • When we provide you with a quote, all we are doing is applying a mathematical formula to the photo of your home to calculate the footage.
    • We will provide you with an exact quote.  We will stand by our provided pricing with no hidden fees.
    • You will only be charged the amount of footage and/or strands quoted on the bid.
    • Our per foot and per strand prices are also listed in the pricing section on this page.
  • This is why we provide a quote and not an estimate.
    • We want our customers to have the experience they expect without hidden fees.
  • If you ask us to include additional areas or items in your estimate, we WILL itemize those so that you can decide for yourself what costs you do or don’t want us to include in your display.
  • For the quickest response, please request an estimate by filling out our form.
  • Although we do try our best to respond to phone calls, the reality is that we often get more new inquiries each season than we can respond to and when that happens, we prioritize the needs of our current customers first, and then focus on getting estimates out to those who have already sent us all of the information that we need to complete their quotes.
  • Please be assured that if you purchase our services, you WILL be able to reach us when you need to.
    • We send most phone calls to voicemail automatically so that we can respond to the needs of our current customers immediately and then fill in the time we have left to work on quotes and respond to new service inquiries.
    • If you have purchased services with us and need to reach us, you can email, text, or call us.  If you reach our voicemail, please DO leave us a message and we will call you back that day.
  • Unfortunately, voicemails asking how our service works or simple questions answered on this web page are our last priority.  If you have questions, we are absolutely happy to help, but we would encourage you to first see if what you want to know is covered on this page.
    • We have gone to great lengths to provide you with as much information on this site as possible in the hopes that it will answer many common questions.

Our Billing Practices

It is important to us that you feel comfortable and confident when it comes to our billing process. That is why we do not run your charge card for ANY amount in advance however we do require payment at job completion.

  • Once you review your estimate, all you have to do to get on our install list is provide us with your charge card information to hold your spot on our schedule.
  • We do NOT run your charge card for anything in advance and you will still have the option of paying by check.  We simply require the charge card information in advance as confirmation that you are accepting our estimate and as a safeguard against non-payment.
  • Once we complete your install, we require payment in full within 15 days before late fees are applied.
    • After 15 days of non payment a 10% late fee will be applied to your account.
    • After 25 days of non payment a sencond 10% late fee will be applied to your account.
    • At 26 days late we will remove lights at our convience.
    • If we do not hear from you or receive a payment from you by the due date, we will run your charge card for the full invoice amount.
  • If you have any questions or concerns regarding your invoice, please contact us prior to the due date so that we may resolve them prior to running your charge card.

We are a local, independently owned business, NOT a franchise.

  • We own our own year-round companies, “J Co Lawn Care” and “Show Me Pressure Wash” that specializes lawn mowing and washing homes.

Although we keep your charge card on file, we will not run it until after your bill is due.  You are still welcome to pay your bill by check.  (Just make sure to mail it before the 15 due date, and if you are not sure if we will receive it by the due date, just shoot us a message by text or email to let us know your check is on the way, so that we do not run your charge card.)

Requesting an Estimate by Text Message

Although we suggest using our "Request an Estimate Form" to ensure that we receive all of the information we need to generate an estimate for you as quickly as possible, we do also accept estimate requests via text message.
